Devon’s kidney transplant was a success!

On January 19, 2022, Devon successfully underwent her kidney transplant surgery! The donor did fantastically, and managed to go home after just one day in the hospital. Devon is making steady progress in recovery and is adjusting to immunosuppressants. The initial recovery is expected to take 3 months.

We have a date for Devon's kidney transplant!

After a lot of back and forth, Devon has a surgery date! The kidney transplant surgery will be performed next Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 8:20am Pacific Time in San Diego, CA.

December 13, 2021

A kidney donor has been approved

Last Thursday, a potential donor notified me the donor coordinator called and said she was approved to donate a kidney. Later that day, I received "the call" from the transplantation center with confirmation — I have a match!!

My donor is O+ and based in California. After searching for 2.5 years and failing with dozens of possible candidates, this is the first time a candidate has reached the diagnostics stage and passed.

Last week, friends and colleagues helped me launch kidneyfordevon.com, a website announcing my search for a kidney donor. Since then, my story has been shared over 13,700 times on Twitter. I've been completely overwhelmed by the response.
